We are going to Africa!

Court date set, airline tickets purchased, bags being packed! We are so thankful for your support and prayers over the last year. We are very excited about the opportunity to meet and visit with our son! The last two weeks have been crazy. We have learned so much about Emmanuel through pictures, video’s emails and posts. One of my favorite comments is from one of his caregivers who happens to be from Michigan “he is a little guy, who is so full of personality, I tell him all the time he is a 45-year-old man trapped in a two year’s body because he is so smart and funny.” We also know he is left- handed, filled with energy, loves to dance, laugh and has a look that will make you melt. We are so thankful we have direct flights (around 12 hours) coming and going out of Atlanta and a great friend who will be staying with our girls at the house. Our embassy/immigration appointment is next Monday @ 2:00 PM. We will try to update blog during our stay. We can’t wait to share pictures and

On Friday, April 27th I (Kathy) received an e-mail stating there was an error in our court document so it would have to be pushed back through court. Tears immediately began to sting my eyes. This is such a huge, emotional roller coaster. It's like you take 1 step forward and 10 steps back. I know the final outcome will be completely worth the wait. But, you get right on the brink of thinking you are about to travel to meet your child, and something seems to always happen to knock you back indefinitely. As I resolved myself not to cry, because I was at work. I re-read the e-mail and prepared to call Rob to let him know-knowing full well the tears would come freely when he picked up the phone. However, just before I dialed, I read the bottom of the e-mail and noticed the e-mail stated what orphanage Emmanuel is at. Before calling Rob, I sent a quick text to a friend in Knoxville to let her know where he is. Immediately, I received a reply that said "call me". Lo

This video has had such a tremendous impact on me.    I wanted to share it with you.    If your desire is to seek Christ and to learn what it means to follow him, you should watch this. Thank you, for your support.    I am amazed that over 8100 people from 37 countries, and 44 states have found their way here.

Greetings,  It's a mazing to think one year-ago today, we received   confirmation from God through a Bible Class and a text message that it was time to adopt. I am writing this from 35,000 feet flying back from a business trip. As I look out above  the clouds , I   am reminded the  C reator is always making things new. Today, we found out the judge has signed off on everything. The only thing left is the placing of the official   Ghanian   Red   Seal. We should receive our approval to contact the embassy any day now. We will ask the embassy for an appointment between May 11th and May 18th. In this scenario, we would fly out of Atlanta directly to Ghana (11 hr flight). We would leave Ghana @ 9:45 Friday night and fly directly (12 hr) back into ATL. Of course, we are looking at other options to ensure we make the best decision. Personally, my emotions have

Chosen

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ in accordance with his pleasure and will to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ....and you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Adoption Update

Adoption update:   We continue to be so appreciative of your thoughts and prayers throughout this journey. We are approaching the one-year mark. What a ride this has been! One of the biggest surprises has been how much you can truly love someone you have never met. To be honest, I feel the same way I did when Kathy was pregnant with the girls. Constantly wondering what he is doing, what he’s like and of course whom he will looks like. In this journey to bring those little hands and feet home, we have seen our Creators’ hands everywhere. God has shown Himself in so many unique ways, reassuring us of our decisions and His timing. Status update:  We understand E-man is feeling better, after suffering from Malaria. Our assigned judge was moved to a higher court. So, our advocate has withdrawn our paperwork and re-filed with the higher courts. We have no idea what this means for timing, but I can honestly tell you that learning to truly trust in God's timin

Big Week!

P erhaps, this is the biggest in adoption journey.  We praying these little feet start to find their way home!     First, our Ghana social worker has reportedly asked Emmanuel’s mother to appear in court this week .   If she does, we will be awarded custody and provided dates to appear before the judge.   Admittedly, this is where it all feels weird and a hundred questions come to mind.   In the end, this is also where we must trust in a sovereign God who is leading us down this path.       Secondly, we will be participating in a Both Hands project this weekend (March 10th). If you live in or near Birmingham.  We would love to see you!!   This is an amazing organization.     Both Hands Foundation is 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was founded in 2008. The Nashville-based foundation has a two-fold mission of serving widows in a very practical way in local communities nationwide, while raising funds to help willing families adopt through a partnership with Lifesong for Orphan
