Greetings,  It's a mazing to think one year-ago today, we received   confirmation from God through a Bible Class and a text message that it was time to adopt. I am writing this from 35,000 feet flying back from a business trip. As I look out above  the clouds , I   am reminded the  C reator is always making things new. Today, we found out the judge has signed off on everything. The only thing left is the placing of the official   Ghanian   Red   Seal. We should receive our approval to contact the embassy any day now. We will ask the embassy for an appointment between May 11th and May 18th. In this scenario, we would fly out of Atlanta directly to Ghana (11 hr flight). We would leave Ghana @ 9:45 Friday night and fly directly (12 hr) back into ATL. Of course, we are looking at other options to ensure we make the best decision. Personally, my emotions have

Chosen

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ in accordance with his pleasure and will to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ....and you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Adoption Update

Adoption update:   We continue to be so appreciative of your thoughts and prayers throughout this journey. We are approaching the one-year mark. What a ride this has been! One of the biggest surprises has been how much you can truly love someone you have never met. To be honest, I feel the same way I did when Kathy was pregnant with the girls. Constantly wondering what he is doing, what he’s like and of course whom he will looks like. In this journey to bring those little hands and feet home, we have seen our Creators’ hands everywhere. God has shown Himself in so many unique ways, reassuring us of our decisions and His timing. Status update:  We understand E-man is feeling better, after suffering from Malaria. Our assigned judge was moved to a higher court. So, our advocate has withdrawn our paperwork and re-filed with the higher courts. We have no idea what this means for timing, but I can honestly tell you that learning to truly trust in God's timin

Big Week!

P erhaps, this is the biggest in adoption journey.  We praying these little feet start to find their way home!     First, our Ghana social worker has reportedly asked Emmanuel’s mother to appear in court this week .   If she does, we will be awarded custody and provided dates to appear before the judge.   Admittedly, this is where it all feels weird and a hundred questions come to mind.   In the end, this is also where we must trust in a sovereign God who is leading us down this path.       Secondly, we will be participating in a Both Hands project this weekend (March 10th). If you live in or near Birmingham.  We would love to see you!!   This is an amazing organization.     Both Hands Foundation is 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was founded in 2008. The Nashville-based foundation has a two-fold mission of serving widows in a very practical way in local communities nationwide, while raising funds to help willing families adopt through a partnership with Lifesong for Orphan

Eman is coming home!

Adoption update.   Emmanuel's mother was found and agreed to continue the process of adoption. Please remember her in your prayers.  We will probably meet her during our last trip.  This is where it gets exciting.  Our in- country coordinator plans to appear in court by the end of the month with Emmanuel's mom declaring us as his parents.    We will then Travel to Ghana for 10 days to meet our son for the very first time and file I600.  We will not have nor will we try to take custody of him    We will visit with him and all the other orphans throughout the day .  Though our hearts will be with him 24/7, it's simply not in the best interest for Emmanuel for us to keep him with us when we know that we will have to walk away in 10 short days to return home. Once the I600 is approved and visas are printed, we will the then go to bring E-man home. The waiting period has been one to two months    So, what's our best guess on when we will have E-man home..possibly the las

Touching and Impacting Lives - Both Hands Project

Adoption update:     Things are starting to move ahead once again.  If you have been following our journey, you know we thought we would have E-man home by December.  God has a chosen a different path and timeline for us to follow. We are still matched with E-man, but we are near the top of the referral list.  So, we may  be matched with someone else in the coming weeks.  Which we will have to make a difficult decision at that point.    We have also joined forces with Both Hands/Lifesong to participate in a unique opportunity to serve the widow and the orphan.  We'd love to have you as part of our team! To help us work on Beth's house, please come to our kick off meeting this coming Sunday at Valleydale Church in room 101 at 12:30 p.m.  If you want to donate, just follow the instructions in the letter. Thanks for your support!
