Poems and Songs

       Day Breaks
Day break comes across the African sky
A mother awakes to the gazes of her
Children’s eyes across the room.
She tries to smile, yet the reality of the moment
Seizes her and fear falls over her.

She bows her head and begins to wonder
as tears fall from her eyes
It is the gaze of her children which break her heart
She searches for what she knows is not there

A nibble of bread, a few pieces of rice will do
None for her she professes
Just enough to feed her children will do
She searches for what she knows is not there

What is she to do?
A mother’s heart once filled with joy
Is now filled with sadness
The new born baby who brought joy
Is now starving in desperation

What is she to do?
She searches for what she knows is not there
Men come and go professing their devotion
Only to leave when life is a commotion
Alone in the silence she wonders
What is she to do?

She bows her head and begins to wonder
as tears fall from her eyes
It is the gaze of her children which break her heart
She searches for what she knows is not there

With sadness in her heart, she begins to bath each one
And with an extra special touch she tells each one
she loves them as only a mother could do
They walk the dirt trail hand in hand

She bows her head and begins to wonder
as tears fall from her eyes
It is the gaze of her children which break her heart
as she walks away from her children praying for a better life
for those she loves

Day break comes across the African sky
A mother awakes
She tries to smile, yet the reality of the moment
Seizes her and fear falls over her
She searches for what she knows is not there

  Just for You!

In this life we have shared many unbelievable experiences together.
We have laughed, cried and most importantly we have loved each other.
Words can not express my gratitude for each special moment.
With every thought of me, there is a special memory…Just for you!

My heart and soul has felt each prayer and sweet remark.
I have replayed each one back in my mind.
Grateful for the time we shared. I am overwhelmed by the
overflowing love you have given Just for me!

Though my life has been troubled, I have been blessed beyond measure
I have had loving parents who taught me the true meaning of love
My brother and sisters have showed me the power of love
A husband who was my knight in shining armor and a shoulder to cry on
A daughter who inspires me and enlightens my day
A son who brings a sparkle to my eye and joy to my heart
Friends like you to share each day with.
A loving Savior to help guide my steps and who has given
so much Just for me!

I’m going home now, to a place I always longed for.
Because of you, I have fought so long
The beauty of story is, while I was fighting to spend one more day with you
The Lord was preparing this majestic place I now call home.
Now, my body is tired and I am ready to go home. A home that has been prepared by Jesus’s loving hands Just for me!

In this life we have shared many unbelievable experiences together.
We have laughed, cried and most importantly we have loved each other.
Words can not express my gratitude for each special moment.
My closing pray is Just for you!
I pray that you know my savior who died Just for you!
Jesus has been with me thorough my journey.

I would go through this all again, for you to hear HIS call
With every thought of me, there is memory and a call…Just for you!

Does Anyone Hear Me

Does Anyone Hear Me?
Does anyone hear me?
Can anyone see me?
Do you know who I am?

I sit among you
Yet…
I am alone

You look at me
And see
Want you want to see

I am surrounded
By people
Yet
I am alone

You talk to me
Yet
I am alone

I smile at your jokes
Yet
I am alone

My heart beats
Yet
I am alone

You see me
Only
As you want to
I am alone

God is molding me
Into something new
You can’t see it
But
I’m not alone

In the quietness of my room
Is where He comes to Me
You can’t hear him
But
I’m not alone

You may not see me now
But
I am not alone
My Jesus is
Is freeing me and making me new
And
One day soon you will see me soar
And I will be free

The stage is quiet now
All the fans have gone home
The lights are slowly coming down
As the smoke starts to disappear

Alone on stage once again
Staring out across the empty chairs
Looking for answers to the questions
That has chased him all these years

The gentle giant feels the tears from within
unable to stop the pain, the tears begin to fall
Slowly down his face as his life flashes
before his eyes as you hear him cry out

Oh God, Why do I run?
Why do I run from you?
I can’t take the pain
Oh God, please help me,
I have no where to run

The gentle giant raises his head as he feels
The presence of someone starring at him, he tries to
Recognize the face from a distance but cannot see
As he starts to rise to his feet to get a closer look
The stranger softly says,  “will you play just one more song,
I love to hear you sing”

As the gentle giant reaches for his favorite guitar, he fumbles
With the strings, trying to find the right words to sing
As the tears flow down his check the sweet melody fills the Air
As the gentle giant sings

Oh God, Why do I run?
Why do I run from you?
I can’t take the pain
Oh God, please help me,
I don’t know where to
Run to anymore.

Oh God, Why do I run?
Why do I run from you?
I can’t take the pain
Oh God, please help me,
I have nowhere to run

As the plays the last note he hears the voice one more time
“Thank you my son, I love to hear you sing
Your voice has been music to my hears from the beginning
The gentle giant falls to his knees
At the sound of the voice
This is no stranger

There is no other voice like yours in all the world.
I have always been here, I have never left your side.
You chose the world instead of me.
You chose to love everyone but me.
You chose to sacrifice and turn your back on an run
You chased the world instead of me.

I know you because I created you
I love you because you’re my child

The Stranger and the Lady
12-11-00

The clouds are gray as the rain
Begins to fall
You can feel the nip in the air on this
Fall night

Standing on the corner I watch as the
Stranger slowly walks down the street ‘
Trying to pull his jacket closer to him
Suddenly out of the corner of my eye I see
A lady approaching the stranger whose hands
Are full with shopping bags, she clutches each bag
As an important treasure yet she continues to look
inside every store To see what she could by next.

The two of them lock eyes, wondering what the other
Is thinking, they continue to watch each other without
Blinking an eye.  As they approach each other the lady
Begins to shuffle the heavy bags as the weight of the bags
Began to take a toll on her, one by one she puts the bags down

As the stranger approaches the lady begins to pick up her bags, but
Suddenly the stranger picks up one the bags, just as they lady begins
To scream the stranger says with a soft voice “good evening mam”
The stranger helps with a few more bags while wondering if she knew
His Lord Jesus Christ because how could a person who had so much
Not be thankful to the one all blessings flow.

As the lady looks at the raggedy old man she begins to wonder if he
Knows her Lord Jesus Christ, how can a person who has so little not
Look to the father whom all blessings flow.

As the rain begins to stop the stranger hands the lady her last bag, and
As he looks into her eyes and smiles.  They depart never saying another
Word for each other, but as they continue walking they both begin to pray
For Each other.
